Our School Badge
The Cross.
The Hurly family were church-goers, so many of the streets in Hurlyvale are named after the Apostles and famous Christians. Thus, we have St Paul Road, St Mark Road and St James Road. Our school is located in St Andrew Road. St Andrew is supposed to have been crucified on an X-shaped cross. A white cross on a blue background is known as the cross of St Andrew. |
The Eagle.
The eagle is regarded by many people as the king of birds. It is associated with soaring above difficulties and ties in with our motto - STRIVE. The eagle was also used by pilots as their symbol. It is interesting to note that the other street bordering the front of our school is called Gibson Road. This street, like several others in Hurlyvale, was named after a famous airman. Guy Gibson was a squadron leader, famous for his raid on the Mona and Eider dams in Germany, recounted in the book The Dam-busters. |
